Robbinsdale Area Schools to Host Dec. 8 COVID Vaccine Clinics

Robbinsdale Area Schools, in partnership with Community Care Clinics of Minnesota, will be hosting mini-vaccination clinics at Armstrong and Cooper high schools, and Robbinsdale and Plymouth middle schools, on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

The four afternoon clinics will be for students and staff at those schools only, with one evening clinic at Robbinsdale Middle School open to staff, students over the age of 5 and their families, and the community. These clinics are a follow up to the ones held on Nov. 17, and second doses are available if participants attended those clinics.

At these clinics, staff and students will be able to receive their first or second dose, or booster (if aged 18 or older) of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Students and children aged 5 and older must have a completed parent consent form.

Those interested in attending the evening clinic are asked to fill out a sign-up form (Spanish and Somali) so organizers know roughly how many doses of the vaccine will be needed. However, sign-ups are not mandatory. For staff and students interested in attending the afternoon clinics, sign-up forms will be made available by the schools.

For staff and students of these schools only:

• Wednesday, Dec. 8:
  • 12:30-1:15 p.m.: Armstrong and Cooper high schools 
  • 1:45-2:30 p.m.: Plymouth and Robbinsdale middle schools 

For staff, students (over the age of 5) and families, and the community:

• Wednesday, Dec. 8:
  • 4-7 p.m.: Robbinsdale Middle School

What’s required?

• Please fill out the sign-up form (Spanish and Somali) so organizers know how many doses of the vaccine will be needed for the event. However, sign-ups are not mandatory.
• Parents/guardians must sign the parent consent form, and students should bring the signed copy with them on their vaccination day. Staff, students and family members who are aged 18 or older do not need parental consent to be vaccinated but need to sign a consent form themselves. 
• Parents/guardians can also email completed consent forms. Schools will provide building-specific details with a follow-up message in the next day or two, including where to email the form.
• Vaccines will NOT be given to students who do not have a signed consent form.
• Individuals MUST be at least 5 years old on the day of their vaccination.

Important to know

• The clinics will provide the Pfizer vaccine only, which has been approved for people who are age 5 or older.
• Second doses of the Pfizer vaccine can be administered 21 days (3 weeks) after the first dose. 
• COVID-19 vaccination is free and does not require insurance.
• People with a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to any vaccine or injectable (intramuscular or intravenous) medication OR any component of the COVID-19 vaccine should consult with their health provider to assess risk prior to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Everyone else with severe allergic reactions to foods, oral medications, latex, pets, insects, and environmental triggers may get vaccinated.
• People should not attend a vaccination clinic if:
  • They have had COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • They have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • They are currently in quarantine due to close contact exposure.
