COVID tests available for students

COVID tests available for students

Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools families,

We are happy to share that the district now has two kinds of COVID tests available for students and families: BD Veritor rapid antigen home tests, and Vault (ACON Flowflex) supervised rapid antigen home tests.

Testing plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our students, families and staff.

BD Veritor Rapid Antigen Tests

What they are: BD Veritor tests are a rapid antigen home test that can detect current COVID-19 infections. This test kit contains 2 tests per box and requires a smartphone and the ScanWell app. Instructions for completing this test are included in the box, and here.

When to get a test: BD Veritor tests are available for pick up in the health office for students and families who are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to COVID.

What to do with your results:

  • If your student tests POSITIVE, please notify your school nurse and fill out a COVID reporting form. Please complete a COVID reporting form for each student who is experiencing symptoms, tested positive or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19. If the positive individual has unvaccinated siblings or household members in the district, please keep them home and await further guidance. Vaccinated household contacts can continue to attend school as long as they are asymptomatic.
  • If your student is experiencing symptoms and tests NEGATIVE, please notify your school nurse, fill out a COVID reporting form and keep your student home. A negative result on an at-home BD Veritor test will need to be confirmed with a PCR/antigen test that is either lab-confirmed or observed (Vault supervised antigen test) to end their 5-day isolation period early.

Vault Supervised Antigen Tests (ACON Flowflex)

What they are: Vault (ACON Flowflex) supervised tests are a rapid antigen home test that can detect current COVID-19 infections. These tests are supervised via Zoom by a Vault representative. Instructions for completing the test with supervision can be found here. The company code is rpsd

When to get a test: Vault Supervised Antigen Tests are available for pick up in the health office for students and families who are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to COVID.

  • If your student tests POSITIVE, please notify your school nurse and fill out a COVID reporting form. • If your student is experiencing symptoms and tests NEGATIVE, please send documentation of your negative results to the COVID Response Team at covid19@rdale.org or your schools nurse/COVID Coordinator. Your student may return to school once documentation of negative results are received, they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications, and other symptoms have improved.

We are so grateful for everything you do to help us ensure our community’s health and wellbeing! Please reach out to one of our district COVID coordinators with any questions.

Sincerely,
