Cultural Exchange FlyerRobbinsdale Area Schools is planning a community-wide Cultural Exchange Forum and Expo for Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Armstrong High School, from 11:00am to 6:00pm. The district is excited to announce Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison will be the keynote speaker for the event.

“During our continual reflection (over the last several years) on our local, state, national and global competitiveness, we have been inspired by the April 2019 issue of Educational Leadership magazine “Separate and Still Unequal = Race in America’s Schools”, which has sparked a national discussion around excellence and equity,” said Dr. Carlton D. Jenkins, Superintendent of Robbinsdale Area Schools. “As such, the district was granted permission from the editor to utilize the magazine as we engage our community in a cultural exchange of ideas on critical topics impacting communities locally and nationally,” he continued.

The event will begin with a variety of cultural performances at 11am. Other family-friend activities include a bouncy house, henna and food trucks (food and treats available for purchase).

Three breakout sessions will cover a variety of topics including race in schools and changing demographics; understanding the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) Report and Restorative Practices; social-emotional learning; and helping students be successful as they navigate different environments.

The event will conclude with remarks from Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (5:00pm).

The community is invited to attend this free event - please register online:
